The link below is to a very well written review of two books on the French Foreign Legion. It was written by Max Hastings–the prolific British author of many, many fine WWII history books and appeared in the NY Review of Books in October 2010 shortly after Martin Windrow’s book became available in the United States. I’ve read both books and of course Our Friends Beneath the Sands is by far my favorite book on the French Foreign Legion. I will eventually write and post my own review sometime later but I thought I would make a quick post on this to share with with folks who visit this blog.
