Vintage Wargaming: Airfix French Foreign Legion Forts

A quick post today about an article I came across about modifying an old Airfix French Foreign Legion Fort model.  It was posted at Vintage Wargaming but the article is from the Airfix Magazine Annual 6 1976.  The old kit was known as Fort Sahara. I’ve put the pages into a PDF file.    The article discusses African and Saharan forts in general and then goes on to describe a conversion that utilized four of these kits to produce a four towered construction.  There are also some other conversion options discussed.  The conversions turn the simple one-kit model into something more substantial–particularly by giving the walls more depth.  Even if you don’t have plans to use this kit (or four of them) in the future it is a good reference and inspiration.
