8th Day of Christmas: 8 News Clippings

Continuing with my backwards Days of Christmas, here are eight news clippings featuring the Foreign Legion in some capacity.  Among some general commentary articles on the Foreign Legion there was a murder-suicide in the 2nd Regiment circa 1914, some proof that American gangsters did indeed join the Legion to escape the law, and news of a missing mother’s son presumed to be in the Foreign Legion (or just an elaborate scam).  The image above is from the Illustrated London News of 27 Oct 1883.
